Although
we did not return to power during the 1999 election to the Maharashtra
assembly, we in the BJP did not rest and continued our activities for
the development of the state.
We underwent introspection and ent that the factory belonged to 'me' and not 'us'. The Factory could make a mark right from the beginning onlyevolved a programme to reach the people at the grass root level.
In my home district, I focussed my attention to take up action
programme for socio economic development of the region.
We had already started work on a cooperative sugar factory. The Vaidyanath Cooperative Sugar Factory at Pangri in Parali Vaijanath tehsil of Beed district began its trial season in 1999.
Latest
machinery, utilisation of a bare minimum space for the factory and
erection of the factory within just eleven months were some of the
striking features of the Factory. The Factory came up with a saving of
Rs. 5.00 crore in the project cost of Rs. 44.85 crore. This is only one
of the records.
The Factory began its operations of the trial season on November One, 1999.
Most
of the workers were new to the functioning of the sugar factory. Yet,
these unskilled workers worked hard and with dedication.
Records Created : The Factory has an installed capacity of 2500 metric tonne crushing.
Yet, every day during the trial season, it crushed more than this
capacity. The Vaidyanath Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana emerged the
first factory not only in India, but perhaps also in Asia, to have
crushed 510,571 tonne cane to produce more than 601,100 quintal sugar
with an average 11.81 per cent recovery in the trial season itself.
In the trial season, it has created history to have crushed 3440 metric
tonne on a single day, on January 17, 2000, when it has installed
capacity to crush only 2500 metric tonne crushing. Similarly, another
history was created by producing 5,450 bags of sugar on January 29, 2000.
The region had unprecedented production of sugar cane which had created
a serious situation for the farmers who were not sure if their cane
would be crushed by the existing sugar factories. Vaidyanath crushed
all the 2.6 lakh metric tonne cane registered with the Factory. In
addition, it rushed to the rescue of growers in Renapur, Ahmedpur, Kej,
Gangakhed, Sonpeth and Vadvani outside the jurisdiction of the factory,
by crushing 2.5 lakh tonne. Thus, the factory helped cane growers in
keeping with the government's policies and social commitment, by
crushing 1.1 lakh tonnes over and above the season's target of 4 lakh
tonne cane.
A national record of cane crushing and sugar production in a trial season, with crushing
of 5.1 lakh tonne cane and production of 6.01 lakh quintal sugar in 220
days.
Besides this, the Vaidyanath has become the first sugar
factory to have offered a price of Rs. 800 per tonne during the trial
season itself. The Vaidyanath Cooperative Sugar Factory has thus
evolved a pattern that can serve as Model to the sugar industry in the
country. Click here for details on Vaidyanath Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana.
